The Cathedral is considered as a center of episcopal irradiation and one of the most important Portuguese Romanesque temples, its history dates back to the work of the first bishop, D. Pedro de Braga, corresponding to the restoration of the Episcopal See in 1070, traces.
In this cathedral are the tombs of Henry of Burgundy and his wife, Teresa of Leon, the counts of the Portucalense County, parents of King Afonso Henriques.
Classified as National Monument.
