Situado en el extremo oriente del plano. En él se encuentra la Iglesia de San Francisco, una de las reliquias de la ciudad. En este cerro nació el ministro Diego Portales. Primitivamente se le denominaba sólo con el nombre de “Morro”. Más tarde se construyó un fuerte, el que fue terminado en el año 1796. Como en el año anterior Ambrosio O’Higgins había recibido el título de Barón de Vallenary, el Cabildo de Valparaíso decidió celebrar este acontecimiento como su ascenso alVirreinato del Perú, lo que originó que más tarde se identificara al cerro como “Cerro Barón”.
Valparaíso está ubicado a 112 km. de Santiago de Chile.
Existen diversas alternativas para llegar a Valparaíso:
En Bus
El viaje demora 1 hora con 45 minutos desde Santiago. Existiendo salidas con una frecuencia de 15 minutos, las empresas de buses ofrecen un buen nivel de servicio y confort.
En Automóvil
Para los que desean llegar en automóvil desde Santiago, deben tomar la Ruta 68, siendo el tiempo de viaje estimado 1 hora y 30 minutos.
