Much of the building (including the facade) was rebuilt in the late 18th century with a project by the architect Carlos Amarante.
In 1834, with the extinction of religious orders passed into the hands of the state. In 1841 the convent began to receive an Infantry Regiment. Currently it is one of the buildings of the Municipality of Braga.
