It was built in 1719 and underwent changes in 1753.
The façade of the church has two bell towers and in its interior one can observe some works of Vieira Lusitano. The ceiling of the nave is all filled with paintings. In the interior decoration of the church were used several marbles and gilded carvings.
Inside, the tomb of D. Mariana Vitória, the wife of King D. José I, is still to be noted. This tomb, the work of Machado de Castro, is considered a national monument.
The Church of São Francisco de Paula is located in the parish of Prazeres in Lisbon.
This church was classified by the IPPAR, as Property of Public Interest on November 17, 1977 by ordinance no. 709/77 of the Diário da República (Series I), no. 266.
