Housed in a renovated 200-year-old building with thatched roof, Okayama Igusa Hostel features Japanese-style private rooms and dormitory rooms, and free WiFi. The hostel, which was awarded the 2015 and 2016 Certificate of Excellence Award by TripAdvisor, offers a common lounge where guests can socialise with other guests.
Okayama Igusa Hostel will be moving to a new location from 1 January 2017. Guests will be accommodated in a traditional Japanese inn renovated as a guest house with a garden beginning from 2017.
The hostel is an 8-minute walk from JR Hayashima Station, which is a 10-minute train ride from JR Okayama Shinkansen (bullet train) Station. Kurashiki Bikan District and Kurashiki outlet shopping mall can be reached within a 20-minute train ride. Naoshima Island is about 1-hour train and ferry ride from the property.
The dormitory rooms are fitted with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and traditional futon mattresses. A fan and a heating stove are provided depending on the season. There is shared bathroom with shower facilities and free toiletries.
Guests can rent a bike to explore around by themselves or cook in the shared kitchen with kitchenware, microwave and toaster. Coin launderette is available.
