Hotel Svambersky dum
The charming Hotel Svambersky dum is located in the center of Cesky Krumlov close to the main square. It is a carefully restored medieval building with frescoes on the facade.
Rooms are very spacious and some rooms on the first floor have a terrace with a view of the town's impressive castle. The 2 spacious attic suites have original, preserved medieval beams and an extra large seating area. Extra beds can be added to some of the rooms for an additional charge. All of the hotel's charming rooms are en suite and spacious and furnished with period furniture.
A stylish restaurant on the ground floor specializes in dishes prepared on open fire.
Wireless internet is available in the entire Svambersky dum hotel free of charge.
Guarded parking is available at the Eggenberg brewery. Guests can drive with their car to the hotel, unload their luggage and check in. Upon check-in, guests will be given a map with instructions how to reach the parking lot. Krumlov Castle is unusually large for a town of Krumlov's size; and, in the Czech Republic, only Prague castle is larger.
The castle also contains a preserved Baroque theatre which was completed in 1766. The theatre is still complete with original stage machinery, scenery and props.
Krumlov also has a museum dedicated to the painter Egon Schiele, who lived in the town.
Ten kilometers from Krumlov is one of the Czech Republic’s oldest monasteries, Zlatá Koruna ("The Golden Crown"). About 30 km from Krumlov is the Hluboká Castle, established in the 12th century and later remodelled according to Windsor Castle in England.
Krumlov is close to the Šumava National Park, the Czech Republic's largest national park. The Šumava mountains lie along the border with Austria and Germany and offer a range of natural habitats - peat bogs, Alpine meadows, primeval forests, lakes, and rivers. The area is popular with walkers, cyclists, and canoeists on the Vltava.
Other attractions in Český Krumlov or nearby in the surrounding area include:
Castle Garden, the Revolving Theatre, the Museum of Torture, the Waxworks Museum, the Český Krumlov Regional Museum, the Graphite Mine and the Five-Petalled Rose Festival. This small, charming hotel is in one of the oldest medieval houses in the heart of historic Cesky Krumlov. The original medieval frescoes on the building’s façade were recently restored to their former colourful glory.
