The National Park created in 1985 has an area of ​​8,000 hectares consisting of mangroves, coastal areas and completely cleared areas in the province of Herrera, occupying a Pacific coast between the mouths of the Santa María and Parita rivers in the bay of the same name.



This is a place in an important pre-Columbian settlement dating back 11,000 years. Here we find pottery objects and stone artifacts that attract the attention of scientists traveling to this place from around the world.



Located in the community of Parita, Herrera Province.





The fauna of Sarigua National Park is very varied due to the environmental conditions of the park. We can find small mammals, reptiles and amphibians; In addition, approximately one hundred and sixty-two (162) migratory bird species were recorded. In the mangrove we find a rich marine fauna, evidenced by huge crustaceans, mollusks and fish.



The climate is tropical savannah, with dry and rainy season. The dry season runs from December to April and the rainy season from May to November.



The temperature varies between 41ºC during the day and 19ºC at night. This temperature variation is what causes the rapid fracturing and pulverization of the rocks. In a year, the average rainfall is 967.53mm.
