Die ausländischen Dissidenten organisierten sich 1847, um ihre Religion zu legitimieren, da sie bis dahin kein Gesetz hatten, das den Bau nicht-katholischer Tempel befürwortete, und gezwungen waren, ihre Kulte an privaten Orten zu feiern. Im Jahr 1865 das neue Gesetz, das die Feier der nicht-katholischen Kulte erlaubt.
Es ist ein malerisches Gebäude mit Linien britischer Inspiration, das einen charakteristischen Grund für das Zentrum von Valparaiso darstellt.
